My instructor says I can't use Wikipedia. What are some credible alternatives?

Answer

The libraries have several encyclopedias online and in print that you can use instead of Wikipedia to gain background information or explain uncommon knowledge.

For the online versions, try these databases:

Gale Virtual Reference Library https://waterfield.murraystate.edu/login?url=https://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/murr79496?db=GVRL

Britannica Academic Edition https://waterfield.murraystate.edu/login?url=https://www.britannica.com/?cameFromBol=true

For print versions, try using the library "Search" on the main library page https://lib.murraystate.edu/ . Use the keyword for your topic followed by AND encyclopedia (for instance, business AND encyclopedia). Be sure to sign in when prompted and select "Available in the Library." Write down the call number of the book and take it to the Information Desk for help or find it yourself in the library's Reference Collection on the main floor.
